Porsche has unveiled its new Mission X, an all-electric concept hypercar that draws inspiration from the 918 Spyder. The car has a sleek and chunky design, with a futuristic roof that opens up to the sky and wings that extend from the fenders. The car is powered by a 900-volt battery system that would charge very fast and deliver a high power-to-weight ratio.
The Mission X is a two-seater car with a short wheelbase and staggered tires for aerodynamics. The interior has a retro-future style, with a steering yoke, flat surfaces, and harsh angles. The passenger dash has a modular area that can display different modules, such as a stopwatch for lap times. The rear of the car has a 3D effect with the Porsche badge and LED strips protruding from the body.
The battery of the Mission X is located behind the seats, in a mid-engine configuration. Porsche claims that the car would be the fastest road-legal vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, beating the Mercedes-AMG One. The car is a conceptual reinterpretation of the hypercar genre, and not intended for production.
The Mission X is the latest electric concept from Porsche, following the Mission E from 2015. The Mission E evolved into the Porsche Taycan, which is the first electric production car from the company. Porsche is also working on other electric models, such as the Macan and the Boxster.
