• In 2024, the top five best-selling EVs were the Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Bolt EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric.
• A 13.5% growth in fully-electric vehicle (BEV) sales was achieved by the BMW Group, delivering 426,594 BEVs globally, with significant contributions from BMW (368,523 units, +11.6%), MINI (56,181 units, +24.3%), and Rolls-Royce (1,890 units, +479.6%).
• A revamped Model Y has been launched in China by Tesla, starting at $35,935, featuring a longer driving range, faster acceleration, and incentives like 0% financing.
• Hyundai has opened pre-orders in Japan for the compact EV "INSTER," priced from $18,100, offering a long driving range, advanced safety features, versatile seating for four, and a stylish, urban-friendly design.
• To advance solar EVs, Aptera has partnered with LG Energy Solution and CTNS, securing exclusive battery cell supply and manufacturing expertise to enable efficient production and promote sustainable transportation.
• In partnership with SK tes, the BMW Group has established a closed-loop recycling system for high-voltage batteries, recovering cobalt, nickel, and lithium to produce new batteries and advance its circular economy goals and sustainable mobility initiatives.
• Mazda has introduced the Mazda6e, an all-new battery EV developed in collaboration with Changan Automobile, featuring an 80 kWh battery and a driving range of up to 342 miles, set to go on sale in Europe in the summer of 2025.
• Kia and Uber Australia have partnered to offer Uber One members free rides in a fleet of 50 electric Kia vehicles, including the EV5, EV6, and EV9, between January 12–26 in Melbourne during the Australian Open.
• The Twingo E-Tech electric prototype from Renault showcases a revamped user experience with innovative features for sustainable urban mobility, introducing a modular and ingenious interior design.
• BYD's Sealion 7 electric SUV, designed to compete with the Tesla Model Y, is set to launch in the UK with a starting price under $73,400.
• The first federally funded fast-charging EV stations in Wisconsin are now operational at Kwik Trip locations in Ashland, Menomonie, and Chippewa Falls, marking the start of a statewide initiative to expand EV infrastructure with 53 projects planned through mid-2026.
• Canada has paused its zero-emission vehicle (iZEV) incentive program, which offered up to $5,000 rebates for eligible electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, after fully committing the program's available funds.
